When we set out to design the Huski Wine Tumbler 2.0, we started with a simple question: what would the world's best wine tumbler look like?
It's a question that felt especially relevant in the US, where a summer afternoon by the pool goes hand-in-hand with a chilled glass of rosé. Most insulated tumblers are built to be all-rounders, working across coffee, water, cocktails and everything in between. But wine is different, and we thought it deserved something more focused.
Rather than making another insulated cup in the shape of a wine glass, we wanted to improve the actual experience of drinking wine: how it feels in your hand, how natural it is to drink from, and how well it performs in different environments.
We identified six criteria the best wine tumbler needs to get right. Not just insulation, but every detail that shapes the experience of drinking wine.
Over a two-year period, we worked through countless prototypes, refinements and small design decisions, all with a single goal: a tumbler that delivered on every one of those standards.
Here's where we landed, and how each of those six criteria shaped the final product.
1. Keeps wine chilled to the last drop
Triple insulation, including copper lining, helps keep wine chilled for longer.
This one was non-negotiable. If a wine tumbler can't keep wine cold, nothing else matters. We've all had a cold glass of wine turn lukewarm far too quickly, and that's exactly the problem we set out to solve.
We benchmarked tumblers across the category. Most use double-wall vacuum insulation, which works well, but we wanted to go further. So the Wine Tumbler 2.0 uses triple insulation, adding a copper lining as a third thermal barrier, the same approach used in high-end thermal flasks.
In controlled side-by-side testing at an ambient temperature of approximately 36°C, the Huski Wine Tumbler 2.0 kept wine up to 5× colder than a standard wine glass. After 30 minutes, the wine in the uninsulated glass had warmed by nearly 17°C, while the wine in the Huski Wine Tumbler had risen by just over 3°C.
2. Use materials built to last
Built to be used, enjoyed and loved for years to come.
We've always designed Huski products to be built for the long haul. That meant choosing premium materials that could handle everyday use, weekends outdoors, and the occasional knock along the way.
We landed on premium 304 stainless steel (also known as 18/8), the food-grade industry standard used in high-quality drinkware. It's corrosion-resistant and built to handle years of everyday use.
We also added a non-scratch base pad that protects dining tables, kitchen benches and outdoor surfaces from scuffs and marks.
They're small details, but we believe they matter. The best products should still feel great to use years down the track.
3. Design a lid we'd want to use
The EasySlider™ Lid is designed for smooth sipping and easy cleaning.
Lids are where a lot of tumblers quietly fall short. They can be awkward to drink from, difficult to clean, or so over-engineered that simply topping up your wine becomes frustrating.
Our EasySlider™ Lid was the result of dozens of iterations. We wanted something that felt natural to use - comfortable to sip from, easy to clean, and simple enough that it never got in the way of enjoying the wine.
It helps reduce splashes, keeps insects and debris out, and can be taken apart for easy cleaning - with no hidden cavities or fiddly parts that trap residue over time.
We also made it crystal clear using durable Tritan™, so you can easily see how much wine is left in the tumbler without needing to remove the lid.
4. Works as both a stemmed wine glass and a stemless tumbler
The TwistLock™ Stem transforms the tumbler from stemless to stemmed in seconds.
This was one of the biggest design challenges we faced.
We knew some people preferred the elegance of a stemmed wine glass, while others wanted the practicality of a stemless tumbler. But we didn't love the idea of needing two separate products for essentially the same experience.
That's what led to our patent-pending TwistLock™ Stem.
Attach the stem for a traditional wine glass feel, or twist it off for a more casual stemless tumbler.
Getting the mechanism right took dozens of prototypes. We wanted it to feel secure and solid when attached, while still being simple to remove.
5. Designed for real-world use
Built for everyday use, wherever you happen to be.
A wine tumbler isn't just tested in a lab - it's tested on camping trips, at picnics, on the boat, and at BBQs with friends. That's where we tested the Huski Wine Tumbler 2.0 too - anywhere you'd want a portable wine glass that travels well, looks great and is durable enough for every occasion.
All that real-world use shaped the details that matter day to day: a comfortable 8.96oz weight that's easy to hold, a secure lid that keeps spills and insects out, and dishwasher-safe convenience for everyday use (except the Champagne colorway, which we recommend handwashing).
And while we designed it specifically for wine, the same insulation and shape make it just as good for cocktails, G&Ts and other cold drinks, especially when bringing a different glass for every drink just isn't practical.
